About the app
Simple sACN Viewer is a receive-only monitor for Streaming ACN (ANSI E1.31). Select a universe and view all 512 DMX channel levels as intensity bars in real time.
- Platforms: iPhone, iPad, and Mac (native SwiftUI)
- Protocol: sACN / E1.31 multicast on UDP port 5568
- No accounts; preferences stay on the device
- Demo Mode for UI checks without a lighting network
Getting started
Quick setup
Join the same Wi‑Fi or Ethernet network as your lighting console or node (not cellular or guest Wi‑Fi with client isolation). Allow Local Network access when the system asks. Set the universe to match the stream you want to inspect. When packets arrive, status should show LIVE with source name, priority, and packet rate.
Use the in-app User Guide (Help) for controls, Demo Mode, permissions, and troubleshooting. On Mac, open Help → Simple sACN Viewer Help.
Status stays on NO DATA
Confirm Local Network permission is enabled for the App. Confirm universe and VLAN match the source. Try Demo Mode: if the grid animates, the display is fine and the issue is network or permission. On Mac with multiple NICs, pick the lighting interface explicitly. Open Network Diagnostics in the More menu for receive counters.
Simulator / multicast
The iOS Simulator cannot receive real multicast. Use Demo Mode there, or run on a physical device. Signed iOS builds also need Apple’s multicast networking entitlement for on-device reception.
Privacy
Channel values and preferences stay on your device. See this app’s Privacy Policy for details.
