About this app
Simple sACN Viewer (“the App”) is a native SwiftUI product for iPhone, iPad, and Mac. It is a receive-only monitor for Streaming ACN (ANSI E1.31 / sACN) lighting data on your local network. This page describes how the App handles information. It is not a company-wide policy for other Byrneout products.
Summary
- The App does not collect personal information for analytics, advertising, accounts, or crash reporting.
- The App does not upload channel values, source names, or other lighting data to Byrneout Technologies LLC or any third party.
- Network use is limited to receiving sACN multicast traffic (and a short Bonjour browse used only to trigger Local Network permission).
- A few preferences are stored on-device only.
Data we do not collect
- No user accounts, sign-in, or identity systems
- No analytics or advertising SDKs
- No third-party crash reporting or telemetry services
- No tracking across apps or websites
- No cloud sync of lighting or preference data by the App
Information processed on your device
The App receives and displays sACN packets from devices on the same local network (for example lighting consoles and nodes). That traffic may include fields such as source name, priority, sequence number, universe, and DMX channel levels (0–255). Processing happens in memory on your device for display and source selection. The App does not send those values to Byrneout Technologies LLC or any external server.
Optional Demo Mode generates patterns entirely on-device and does not use the network.
On-device preferences
The App stores a small set of settings in Apple’s on-device UserDefaults / App Storage APIs, for example:
- Last selected universe
- Whether channel numeric values are shown
- Last selected network interface preference (when you choose one)
These preferences remain on your device. Uninstalling the App removes them with the App’s local data, subject to normal OS behavior.
Network use and permissions
Local Network. The App requests Local Network access so it can join sACN multicast groups and receive UDP traffic on port 5568 for the universe you select. Without this permission, live reception will not work.
To present the system Local Network prompt reliably, the App may briefly browse for the Bonjour service type _e131._udp. That browse is used for permission prompting, not for uploading data or discovering devices for a remote service.
Receive-only. The App is designed as an sACN receiver/visualizer. It does not implement Art-Net control output, and it does not upload lighting data over the Internet as part of normal operation.
The App may use Apple platform networking APIs (for example path monitoring and interface enumeration) so it can bind to Wi‑Fi or Ethernet interfaces you select. Those APIs run locally on the device.
Third parties
The App does not integrate third-party analytics, advertising, or crash-reporting SDKs. Distribution, purchase, and updates through the Apple App Store are subject to Apple’s own privacy practices, which Byrneout Technologies LLC does not control.
Children’s privacy
The App is a professional lighting diagnostic tool and does not knowingly collect personal information from children. Because the App does not collect personal data from users in the first place, it does not solicit information from children.
Data retention and deletion
Lighting packet contents are not retained by Byrneout Technologies LLC. On-device preferences persist until you change them or remove the App. There is no Byrneout account to delete because the App has no accounts.
Changes to this policy
If the App’s data practices change (for example if analytics or accounts are added in a future version), this Privacy Policy will be updated and the effective date revised.
